Breakfast is served

Grass is in short supply at the best of times here at Rock HQ so the critters are kept going by ample access to hayledge, a sort of fermented hay stuff. Our boys, the cobs, Apollo and William have been locked in a speed eating competition since the new bale was unwrapped, see 14 Jan posting for Apollos excited reaction. Well they finished this one off in record time, exactly 14 days, it ran out of calories Friday morning.
Since then they have been stuffing their faces with beets, and armfuls of the hayledge from the bottom pen. Hetty doesn't mind sharing as she is also partial to the beets and sees this as fair exchange not robbery. The sheep treat them like sweeties and a stampede ensues once they clap eyes on them, Ferny Fern Fern from Ferntown managed to get her head stuck in her eagerness to sample the new delivery.
Strangely the Berners will also try and join the feast carrying smaller beets off up the slopes of the bonsai mountain.
