A nice pear

Time is short for Laverne and Shirley our two lovely Berkshire pigs so they are being hand fed goodies at every opportunity. The seasonal windfalls of fruit really add to their flavour and they relished the pears liberated from Murphy's tree. Laverne really blotted her copy book at lunchtime when strange noises could be heard from the garden. As we were in the teeth of a storm the decision was made to allow whatever it was out there in the rain get on with whatever it was it was doing. The wind and rain lashed the cottage, the power went out for a short spell and the thing in the garden was the only thing active, every other sentient being possessing any notion of self preservation hunkered down and waited. Once the rain subsided and the wind dropped to a level where you could just about stand up we were brave enough to venture out and found little piggy tracks were evident all around the garden and especially around the marrow patch, home of some prized specimens that were about to become marrow chutney. They had obviously been an extra pigs breakfast. Somehow Laverne managed to squeeze her fat belly back under the wire and was found sleeping it off in the barn next to a very cross Shirley who had missed out on the garden feast.
