Nerd Alert

October the 31st 1917 in what was Palestine, the town of Beersheba was held by the Turkish army supported by the Germans, it had the only water supply for miles and was a vital asset in the desert. So every year for the last 4 or 5 yours truly has set up a wargame based on the famous Australian Light Horse charge across 3 miles of flat open desert into the Turkish gun line and driving them out capturing the wells.
Here we see an advance party of ALH bothering the Turks.
The Light Horse formed up in 4 lines support and supplies to the rear
the charge begins
and they moved so fast they were able to get underneath the artillery who could not adjust the guns fast enough.
Contact
and they broke through over the trenches
suffering only 12 or so casualties
they took the town
and the rest as they say
is history.
