A very quick trip to A+E confirmed that yours truly has indeed broken his elbow, the space age metal from a previous misunderstanding with a ladder is intact, the bone below it has come adrift and caused a bit of a nuisance. The staff at Hereford hospital were very understanding, even the one who tried to straighten my arm for a better x ray had his plus points. So I am now told to rest, not to drive and most importantly not to fall on it again and return to the fracture clinic in a week to get a better idea of whats to be done. Any idea of ultramarathons and camping have had to be expunged from the diary. But as the ultra is 3 weeks away that might still happen and on the just in case principle an armoured sleeve has been ordered. MBAOSPW is saying things like over her dead body but as I said no one has ever died from a fractured elbow. Yet.
The evening was spent sulking, interspersed with pitiful whining and prolonged bouts of sitting feeling sorry for myself. No change there then.
So some productive elements have to be found and with some painkillers, a cushion and lots of superglue some 15mm vehicles were put together. I have cabin fever already and its only been 30 hours since Ivy chopped me down. Bless her.
The bruising is now starting to show.
