What's done is done
Early mornings and
late evenings
under scrutiny
gets a lot done. But tomorrow its the BBMC 2014, 50 km or more across the Black Mountains. I might have a nice fence but I haven't done any mountain training. Too late now.

Come on Irene!
Early doors saw yours truly clearing more ground for post bashing, using a 6 foot metal spike made "easy" work of assorted tree roots, rocks, dinosaur bones and the wreckage of the previous fence
ready for posts to be placed waiting for the post bodger. Not having a hydralic ram type this is all being done by hand and tired arms in baking heat this evening.
Back to morning time work of fence and subsequent devouring of breakfast was delayed by our little flockers turning up for their own vittles. Irene is growing nicely but her mum, Snowy, was wearing a fetching
bramble ensemble which was causing some consternation amongst the rest of the flock.
Not a good look for a Ryeland, so over breakfast, and once I found my welders gloves, it was removed.

I need more time!
The fact its light at 5am, we have two small boys who hate lie in and dogs that like to let everyone know its daybreak by competing with the peacock in the who can make the most noise meant that yours truly was out early doors adding to the cacophony by banging bits of metal together.
Fence took shape late on, 4 foot high. Somedays I need more hours in the day.
Then again I could have created some free time had I not put together (not played with!) the apprentices train set. Seems like the new utility room has been commandeered!

Reach out and touch...
Its a funny thing this interweb. I remember it being invented and thinking it will never catch on and laughing at a friendly Wizard I used to hang around with in the mid nineties who one evening claimed to have done all his Christmas shopping on line. How could computers replace shops? Yet here I am today at University, through the internet, working hard at the office (ahem) again on line and most days resort to using the internet for even the most mundane of tasks like reminding myself phone numbers or recipes. Today during lunch I sent a blanket email to my address book informing all of my next self imposed man test (I'm at that funny age where I either seek my inner pastel((shades of shirts and sock, sometimes the two even match, thats socks and shirt being the same hue, not matching socks, although curiously they are for a change, how has this happened?)) or beast myself training for endurance events) the Uphilll all the Way event and through the power of the internet a long lost friend emerged from the websphere. We had lost contact some 10 years back, I thought he was in Canada, he thought I was ignoring everyone. Now I find he's running a top class B and B at the foot of Ben Nevis (Google Treetops at Fort William) and living the dream. He's also offered tea and cake for when I go up to the Highlands in August. How handy finding an old mate running a B and B at the start or finish of the 3 peaks 470 mile bike ride in 72 hours challenge.......

Happy days
Book ends or foot warmers? You decide. Tasha looks as happy as I feel as I have just submitted my research proposal to university with over 1 hour 37 minutes and 15 seconds to spare!

Size matters
The weather today has been truly dreadful forcing those who could to stay indoors. I went off to do some indoor cycling and thought about a friend of mine who is currently cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End, in a gale and torrential rain today, and yesterday, sleet the day before, hail before that. Hes battling down the west side of Scotland and if all went well today he is probably drying out in a hostel in the Lakes.
Chester stayed in, and as ever Misty who only has eyes for him (shes dumped Trevor) stayed really close.
She doesn't realise shes not his type and too old. Trevor shouted insults from the runway but Chester ignored him.
Apparently they are just good friends.
