All for a bacon roll

Early doors, well almost, yours truly and Pritch (he who occasionally builds stuff for us) set off on the Kington Sportive, 75 miles across some of the most hilly sections of mid Wales. Just to make it even more difficult we decided to ride to the start line and ride back. Gluttons for punishment or just thick. Anyroadup despite soaring temperatures, punctures, me crashing in to Pritch and falling off (feet locked into pedals really helped here) and a high speed downhill close encounter with a red Land Rover (I know it was red, the paint is still on the end of my handlebars) we completed the course plus the extra bit without any real trouble. All hills were conquered, all junctions negotiated in the correct order and every jelly baby from a family sized bag was consumed.
We made the finish line ahead of schedule where the Kington Lions who organised the whole event gave us bacon butties, tea and for the fat ones, chocolate cake. It has to be said that the Kington Lions did an amazing job of organizing the event, planning the route (a real mix of lung bursting climbs and fast road sections) signposting, rescuing broken riders and providing drinks, sandwiches and cakes at strategic places en route.
The real finish, 82 miles in 6 hours 15 minutes. If its on again next year count me in.
