No sheep allowed

Its that time again where for a whole month the wooly backs are rounded up by the militia
and the Bonsai Mountain is ours alone
to roam
free from the taunts of the sheep
who being of tiny brains
wait until the last second before making off over the hills and far away
as I approach with potential apex predators. Lucky for them this pack is well trained, well fed and have no interest in the wooly meat.

Theres a first

On the last full moon we were treated to a rare sight, a Moonbow.
Caused the same way as a Rainbow but by the light of the moon
shining over the cottage and across the fields where it was raining
and it has to be said
it was pretty
spectacular!

life skills

RRMK2 was left to his own devices and chop the firewood
and it has to be said
he did a very good job of it
and as long as Telecom don't miss the phone line pole
all will be well.
Meanwhile, the Christmas tree has been sourced, and after 58 Christmas's with a real one we've decided to fake it. The fact that yours truly found said fake thrown away in a skip has nothing to do with the decision.

zero emissions

Its autumn in full swing and the colours on the trees are just spectacular, as is the temperature
with it being 9 degrees warmer than it should be for the time of year.
Tasha looking most intelligent.
So as we walk through the woodland
finding good bits for the wood burner, the apprentice is using our latest find, a zero emissions chain saw, which is pretty effective provided you've had your Weetabix.

Its back!!

So thie blog is a few days (read weeks) behind and I am pleased to announce the arrival of
the RIVER!
28th October its back where it should be
yesterday not there
today its
there!
We missed it, its been gone since April.
The return trip we celebrated by collecting firewood as we don't have any heating in the house, more news follows.

See the folks of Folkstone

As the grandchildren are now in the UK
it was time for yours truly to assume the mantle of Grandad
and safely entertain the children... 4 of them.
The beach was a bit wet
so after a quick look at some culture
crazy golf
was the preferred activity
and after locating our actual position
food was the next option
and the standard fish and chip beans bread and butter and cuppa
which the
kids polished off in record time.
I have no idea where he out it all
Fuelled up we explored Folkestone
which has lots to see
and do
and after taking note of the important sign
the kids
had a great time on the
adventure playground.
Day 2 spoiled only by accidentally locking myself out of the house and then getting fleeced by a 24 hour emergency locksmith
time was spent making pumpkin lanterns
successfully
then back to Folkestone
to the museum and the even older
building next door
the cinema!
Then some more culture, art exhibits everywhere
and war memorials
and really useful signs
ending the day with icecreams
double scoops
and the beach which was much more inviting today
and muddy
more art
boats and art
finding the way in
and handing the kids over all alive.
5 hour road trip..
fuelled by pizza
