Today was always going to be busy as little t was having a birthday tea party but Daffodil thought she would add to the number of things to be done by breakfast by dropping this lovely ram lamb on our doorstep. She is actually a great mum and that's not bad considering she was abandoned by her own mum and bottle fed until she could rob the food store for goodies. It was a really hard frost last night and I was just contemplating venturing outdoors when Daffodil wandered into the yard with Ice ( ram lambs name obviously) at hoof. This came as a big surprise as she was not supposed to be pregnant, none of our ewes are, but it seems someone got to Daffodil before we shut the rams away. She is usually the first to lamb so her delivery prompted an inspection of female sheep's lady parts as they all lined up for breakfast. None are showing signs of imminent birth so hopefully Ice will be the first and last this year.
Once the mutton was sorted I got back to the task in hand which was prepare enough food to feed the legions about to land at HQ.
The hot dogs were a great success, all our own pork but what everyone actually wanted
was cake, these were baked before breakfast and after lambing.
Naturally visitors to HQ got a guided tour, all went aahhh when they saw little Ice and Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee told them exactly what they thought of hot dogs being on the menu.
