Little boats under big skies

What could be better than starting your day
than by plunging into ice cold
salty water.
The apprentice had to join in
Every minute the vista offers changes
so many photos so little time
as we explored the coastline each
end of the bay. Here is where I took a much loved picture of Rocky sat under a rainbow.
Alex who doesn't really like dogs took control of the toy dog.
During rain showers we took shelter in the rocks
and took the opportunity for refreshments.
One of the things I love about this place is the sense of freedom it gives you
and the strange things you find like a 40 year old oyster.
The pier needs repair and its difficult to get stuff delivered so
there was a need to recruit
sand smugglers
luckily for Tom he had a bunch of able volunteers
ready to
get on board the Gypsy Rover
and under the watchful eye of the local ferry
our little flotilla of boats set off
into the Nevis Triangle
for a spot of unsuccessful fishing
RRMK2 was very happy to weigh the anchor
which was going to be needed on a falling tide
for some reason one of our boats was missing so the obvious solution was for our craft the Gypsy Rover to be towed closer to shore by the skipper rowing with the bowline in his teeth. Surprisingly he managed to pull us in, but then again as he was the first man to row the Atlantic Ocean west to east and then did it a second time even faster just because he felt like it, perhaps it isn't.
The apprentice manned up and negotiated the slippery sides of the ship in an effort to help
while yours truly was ashore loading sand
and once complete the apprentice then displayed his ever growing sense of humour by getting back on board and pretending he had forgotten the bow line.
A quick jaunt along Loch Nevis we found this haven, how off grid can you be? No roads, no services, no utilities, just you, your shacks and peace.
Our missing boat had beaten a retreat due to the weather and was safe at anchor.
A quiet evening then ensued as a pod of whales went past the dining table.
The weather cleared
revealing more photo opportunities
this is the view of the western end of the camp
the sun set where it doesn't really get dark, this is 11pm again
and we prepared for our next day in paradise .
