A bit more camp

Life is an adventure. As a kid I remember the summer of 76 which was red hot and I spent a very happy week aged 12 camping with school friends on the bank of the river Wye, playing silly buggers in an upside down row boat as a diving bell and kayaking, riding ponies and staying up late.
Fast forward to present day I find myself doing much the same and organising perhaps somewhat safer trips for children and carers so they get some taste of adventure. Hence the second oh my goodness how time flies icanfoster adventure camp. Here is yours truly in a pre dawn freeze your nuts off lake swim. Solo, nobody else was stupid enough.
Later was a walk around the lake
RRMK2 decided that this weekend he would be his inner rabbit.
The rain forest has yet to be explored.
Richard getting some second breakfast in.
The boys outside a nuclear power station, built and decommissioned in my lifetime. I am that old.
The bridge of doom awaited as last year, this year no fear, well almost.
Not the same vehicle bit the boys are older, same place as last year though.
Dead mans fingers stew.
Not Glastonbury and only drinking hot chocolate, but still happy.
Another outing pre dawn for the Numb Joy swim team.
This time the apprentice joined.
Say cheese before we die of hypothermia.
Cooking first breakfast in the remains of last nights fire.
Wondering if he will ever feel warm again.
Suns up.
Big seagulls.
Underground fun coz its raining outside.
Run and catch your pizza.
Caught!

Mine!

More hot chocolate.
More cold water,
Still happy.
He did get in.
Another new recruit.
Team Numb Joy day 3 selfie.
Alex kayaking which is brilliant after his traumatic capsize yesterday.
Relax I know what Im doing !
The war memorial.
Home is across that lake!
Strange mists on the last evening shrouded the camp.
Even the old power station looked special.
Checking the hot chocolate ingredients.
Rabbit mode marshmallow toasting.
A new day dawns.
Its still not warm
despite how much we say it is.
Last sunrise of a great camp.
And so we all had to say goodbye... until the next time!
My two loved it. They are certainly growing fast.
