As we are having really unseasonal weather, namely sunshine and no wind, yours truly decided to inflict his latest toy on the apprentice and rug rat mkII. Once they were wrestled into place and firmly attached to the death trap we set off along the dirt track
and avoided all encounters with tarmac lorries by cycling along the woodland track to the river. This was a great success once I remembered that the trailer behind was wider than me.
We made it to the river and set up camp
and headed for the beach
where the apprentice tested the waterproofing of his wellies
just before testing the water carrying capacity of the same wellies.
Boots and socks off we chomped through a very healthy snack pack
before more messing about on the beach. The trip back was a bit of a challenge. Having watched the tarmac lorries racing along a pattern emerged, this being several lorries hurtling along, nothing, same again, nothing and so on. So yours truly judged that in the gap he could cycle on the Queen's highway the 150 metres in that gap to the safety of the c road that runs parallel to the A road race track. So kids in tow the race was on, naturally I won and we made it back to HQ after a lovely 1 mile traffic free tour of the hedgerows.
