Pedro reappeared in the yard this morning saving a long trek through the wilderness that is our backyard. He seems to have teamed up with Jester, one of our ram lambs born this spring. Pedro is pictured here behind Jester, born round about the same time Pedro towers over Jester. That shows what a difference being a single lamb rather than a twin as Jester is, and having lush pasture rather than mountain scrub. But seeing as the prodigal sheep returned unaided I was able to get on with the latest DIY disaster, a multi storey bird cage, primary aim is to use it to bring our chicks on (we have a few chicks that have hatched and all are camped by the moody Rayburn) so normal life can be resumed in the kitchen.
As it was such a glorious day, again, I went and liberated some fruit I spotted on a circuit of the Bonsai Mountain last Thursday night.
It actually belongs to the Technohermit, or rather its just behind his lair, so technically its his, in fact most things are his in his view. Anyway he was seeking shade further down so Rocky kept watch while I filled sacks with crab apples.
By the time we had finished and delivered our ill gotten gains to the porkers it was too hot to consider more work on the bird cages and so the Berners and I took a slow stroll around the hill where we found most sensible creatures were in the shade. What was that about mad dogs and Englishmen?

We seem to have been adopted by our local hermit and dog as well, which causes consternation if they turn up unannounced when we have friends there. I'll have a couple of stories from him in the next months.
I've also discovered a Berner living locally. I could tell it was a Berner because the Collie next to it looked like a terrier...
