Tales from bluebell wood

Its that time when we wait for the first Cuckoo or Swallow 

and of masses of Bluebells, the British variety here in our ancient woodand

not the pesky Spanish infiltrator.

The boys opted for a bit of woodland management but gave up on account it was too heavy.

Instead they fought the temptation to pick flowers

and joining Spotty2 in the river.

Our swimming pool has silted up which is a bit of a shame, its also fenced off so a bit inaccessible. 

Pooh sticks kept them entertained for a while.

Back at the ranch

more work (45 mins) done on the new building. At this rate the grand opening will be 2044.

Which is OK as having just had the quote for the roof I need to grow a spare kidney and sell it

to pay for it. 
 

Sun sea and sand

Its been a while since we were able to hit the beaches so lucky for us the days we chose to it was sunny. Very sunny which is remarkable for Wales.

The seaside town of Tenby called us and 

off we went 

soaking up the rays

and doing the compulsory seaside stuff like visit the life boat station 

building sand castles 

and eating ice creams.

The evening was spent eating authentic Italian cuisine 

and drinking red vino.

Some of the back streets had a positively Mediterranean vibe.  

Sunrise was greeted with a 

swim in the ocean, which was cold but considerably warmer than the lake from last week. 

A visit to a wildlife park was a real treat 

as it has some amazing animals

some of which paid very close attention to the tigers

in fact all of them kept a very close watch on the tigers as they paced around behind their flimsy wire enclosure. 

But the best bit was the trash pandas

we got to spend time feeding and getting really up close

and personal with the adorable 

Red Pandas

which are every bit a fluffy as 

they look.

Back to the bar some seriously cold drinks were sampled

and more streets explored as we looked for picnic food for the 

beach party. This is the boy's interpretation of dont get too wet. 

We seemed to have the beach to ourselves 

while they fully immersed.

Next day saw yours truly up at sparrows fart 

and messing about in the water again.

Following a good breakfast shops were looked at for anything interesting, turns out a cousin makes these toadstools on sale in a gift emporioum.

as we said goodbye to another great action packed adventure. 
 

Nerf guns are for wimps

Many years ago yours truly was in re-enactment groups where many a happy hour was spent dressed in armour hitting each other with real but blunt weapons and most importantly, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol to dull the pain. This was great fun. 

Fast forward a lifetime and the apprentice has discovered that hidden amongst various bits of other junk are said real weapons and some armour. 

Which are a whole lot more effective and much more fun than playing with nerf guns and their little foam darts. 
 

Small gains

Not much time could be devoted to the amazing new project this weekend but yours truly did manage to escape painting the boiler room for a brief spell and start to move the dirt from the drain and take stock of the level playing field. Level... well considering this concrete was laid for me when I was laid up having my arm put back together in 2007, I don't think Karl, for it was he who did it ably assisted by Mark, could have got it any less level without actually putting a lot of effort into it. It is 3 metres wide at the narrow end, and across that 3000mm there is a drop of 

approximately 400mm, or two steps 

or one bucket. This has caused a slight rethink in how whatever it is that is to adorn the slope is indeed level as thats what it needs to be. One slight rethink later and an order given to the local builders merchant the remedy is on its way.  
 

Current events

Given the situation in Ukraine our two have clearly been influenced by the TV news.

They were bored and asked what they should so so I rather flippantly said go outside and prepare for life without food or power and found them shortly after turning he go kart into a combat vehicle.

The apprentice is growing and is now actually some help on the jobs around the place when hes not planning for the apocalypse.

Meanwhile Moby was a far more sensible choice of chariot to widen the search for Pronto.
