All good things come to an end so the last morning in the jungle was a fun affair as we only had another 10km to do and we were on the happy bus to civilisation and beers.
Dom was nominated money man to count out the dosh to reward the porters.
Richard and Keith got married, well it looked that way as they cut the celebration cake.
Dom also had to make a speech when he handed over the money, not used to public speaking he did a great job.
Our team were very happy and sang us songs
but we were happier as we walked downhill and headed to the finish line.
One last look at the jungle and we were
getting amongst the beers in a well placed tourist trap
which made us very very happy. The bus ride back was a heady mix of singing, clapping, cheering and whiskey.
Lots of congratulatory selfies
and a quick look at my health stats before the serious party started. We had said one beer, get changed, in the end we didn't bother getting changed
and were apparently the happiest team ever by the time of the awards ceremony.
I got so generous I bought everyone dinner
and pretty soon we had emptied the bar!
Which might explain this.
Next morning none of us felt too ill which was a good thing
and Kilimanjaro hid from our view, the weather turning for the worst.
Some of us were in a sorry state at breakfast
but by dinner and a few beers they had rallied.
The long trip back began with a short flight to Nairobi
where we made a good impression on the locals by our tidyness and apparel.
A long flight to sober up, looking at the alps, been there done those.
The plane had emotional lighting.
Dom looking normal.
Richard with a telling headline!
Finally in the cold embrace of terminal 4 Heathrow, the adventure over. Hometime!
