A question of balance

 Lack of preparation on behalf of yours truly meant that the apprentice had no wellingtons for todays sojourn around the woodland. He wearing his best shoes meant that no matter how beautiful and oh so patient my wife is, I was in for an earbending.
 Thankfully the apprentice sensed the importance of keeping reasonably clean and walked a well placed plank (read signpost) that was over the deepest part.

Ha. I've done that with our boys. Several times I've brought them home from a muddy game in the woods and Beautiful Wife has pointed out that one of them is in their best trousers (ie the ones they need to wear the next day at a family gathering/wedding et c.
