We might not have done very well with the apple harvest this year on the Bonsai Mountain but we have got a bumper crop of Sloes which are one of the key ingredients to a very warming tipple, Sloe Gin.
These sour little berries only need a good frost and then they will be ready for picking, pricking with a thorn from the tree, mixed with sugar and dropped in a vat of cheap gin. Months later you get a fantastic fruit based beverage. The only down side is it seems to evaporate, I mean the bottles just empty!
